Also known as: front scale balance, gymnastics front scale, bodyweight balance exercise, single leg balance hold, calisthenics front scale
How to do the Front Scale
Setup: Stand tall on one leg, feet hip-width apart, core engaged, arms extended or by your sides for balance.
Movement: Hinge at the hips while lifting the free leg straight in front, lowering the torso until parallel to the floor. Return to standing with control and repeat on the other leg.
Standards:
- Standing leg remains straight or slightly bent
- Torso and lifted leg form a straight line
- Controlled balance throughout the movement
Focus Points: Keep hips square, maintain neutral spine, engage core, move slowly and controlled.
