How to do the Push Press
Setup: Stand with feet hip-width apart, barbell resting on the front shoulders, elbows slightly forward, core engaged.
Movement: Dip slightly by bending knees, then drive upward with legs and press the bar overhead in one continuous motion without re-bending the knees. Stand tall at the finish.
Standards:
- Arms fully extended overhead
- No re-bend of the knees after the drive
- Bar finishes directly over mid-foot
Focus Points: Smooth leg drive into press, maintain upright torso, control bar path, stabilize overhead.
